Flossing is an important part of your daily oral hygiene routine. Taking time to floss at least once a day is the most effective ways to prevent cavities from forming in between teeth. It is also one of the best ways to reduce your risks for gum disease.   Many people cite difficulties flossing as the reason they avoid it. However, flossing needn’t be difficult or time consuming. In fact, with just a little practice, flossing can be accomplished in almost no time at all, providing you with benefits that last a lifetime.

How and When to Floss

Flossing morning and night is ideal, but once a day is sufficient for most people. You may floss before or after you brush your teeth depending on your personal preference.

You will want to slide a clean section of floss in between each tooth, making it important that you start with a sufficient amount of floss. Wrap the floss around your index fingers so that a clean section can be run from the crown to root of each tooth. After flossing in between every tooth, discard the floss. It really is just that simple.
