What is Osseointegration?

The Woodlands and Houston, TX

Osseointegration is the process that allows your Houston dental implants to provide a lifetime of support. It is this process in which your body accepts your dental implants as a replacement for a missing tooth’s root.

Due to osseointegration, dental implants are able to offer distinct advantages including:

  •  No risk of implant slipping or falling out
  • Complete restoration of strength and function
  • Prevention of changes to jaw structure

Houston implant dentist Dr. Scott Young would be happy to discuss these and other advantages of dental implants during your tooth replacement consultation.

Osseointegration and Dental Implants

Dental implants are made of biocompatible materials which, once inserted, are unlikely to be rejected by your body. The surface of dental implants contain numerous microscopic holes which allow osteoblasts to integrate with an implant, holding it fast in place. Because there is nothing between the implant and the osteoblasts, the risk of falling out is eliminated and a full restoration of function is achieved. Once the process is completed, your dental implant will be fully integrated with your bone in the same way as a natural tooth root.

If you are missing one or more teeth and are looking for the most effective replacement option available, please contact Woodlands Premier Dentistry to schedule your consultation with Houston implant dentist Dr. Scott Young.
