Tooth Bonding vs. Porcelain Veneers

The Woodlands and Houston, TX

Both Tooth bonding and porcelain veneers are used to correct common cosmetic dental problems. However, the techniques are quite different and the final results can also vary. During your Houston cosmetic dentistry consultation, Dr. Scott Young will listen to your concerns and assess your smile to help you decide which option is right for you.

Bonding and Veneers

Tooth bonding is accomplished with resin that is colored to match adjacent teeth. This resin is applied in layers, with each layer being sculpted and hardened before the next is applied. The process is completed in one office visits and results can last for several years. Tooth bonding cannot produce the same results are veneers, but is a cost-effective alternative for minor cosmetic issues.

Porcelain veneers are placed over the front of teeth to cover cosmetic imperfections. Veneers require two office visits to complete, but can produce results for upwards of ten years. Porcelain is remarkably strong, stain resistant, and completely natural-looking, making it a better solution for more pronounced cosmetic problems.
