The Woodlands and Houston, TX
Following your Houston teeth whitening procedure, you will want to take steps to maintain your results. Of course, teeth will eventually darken or stain, necessitating repeat treatments, but you can lengthen your results by taking optimal care of your teeth and gums.
Houston cosmetic dentist Dr. Scott Young wants to make sure your results are long-lasting. During your teeth whitening consultation he will discuss with you the most effective ways to care for your smile to help ensure your continued satisfaction.
Caring for Your Teeth
You can help lengthen your teeth whitening results by:
- Giving up tobacco
- Minimizing your intake of dark beverages
- Reducing your sugar intake
- Maintaining a good oral hygiene routine
Brushing after every meal and snack is one of the best ways to keep your teeth white and bright. Following teeth whitening, you may wish to use a mildly abrasive whitening toothpaste, but this is not always necessary. Pre-brush whitening mouthwashes can also be useful, but are not good if you have restorations such as porcelain veneers or dental crowns.
Make sure you continue to visit our office every six months for professional cleanings as well. These visits not only allow us to thoroughly clean and polish your teeth, they give Dr. Young a chance to check for common oral health issues.
