The Woodlands and Houston, TX

Porcelain veneers have a number of attributes that enable them to provide long-term results. If cared for properly, porcelain veneers placed by our Houston cosmetic dentist may continue to enhance your smile for over ten years. Dr. Young will be happy to discuss proper care with you during your regularly scheduled visits to our Woodlands, Texas office.

Caring for Your Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain veneers look and feel like natural tooth enamel, and caring for them is not much different than caring for your natural teeth. Our Houston cosmetic dentist recommends using a soft bristled toothbrush and nonabrasive toothpaste for brushing veneers. This will help guard against scratching or damaging their surface. Veneers cannot be whitened, making it important that you brush after every meal and snack to keep them bright.   Mouthwash with alcohol or other astringents should be avoided after veneers have been placed. These substances can weaken the bonding that holds veneers to teeth. Chewing ice or hard candy can also damage veneers or cause them to come loose.

Every six months you should plan on visiting our Houston cosmetic dentist for a thorough examination and cleaning. In the rare event that there are problems with your veneers, Dr. Young can address them during these regularly scheduled visits.
